A few days ago, Team Liquid’s ADC Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng made some interesting claims on stream. When asked about some differences between League of Legends and Dota 2, Doublelift started by defending Dota 2. He said Dota 2 has much more to learn when it comes to builds, champions, and maps. However, he further added that there is no chance that Dota 2‘s mechanical skill ceiling is higher than League‘s. The clip of his saying it quickly gained traction and Dota 2 professional players seemingly noticed it. Johan “n0tail” Sundstein, a professional Dota 2 player currently playing for OG, responded to his statement.
n0tail’s response
N0tail said in a tweet that he also played some League of Legends games and dominated them. This was a direct response to Doublelift’s statement from that same stream saying he “stomped every pub that he stepped into.” However, his statement shouldn’t be taken out of context. Prior to that, Doublelift said he played Dota 2 for around eight years and thought he understood the game pretty well. Furthermore, he added on to his “pub stomping” statement by saying it probably wouldn’t be the same if he played against better players.
N0tail’s tweet continued saying his first statement was more of a joke. He followed it up with a few questions, mainly questioning League of Legends‘ low kill counts and lack of critical objectives. While most people saw this as some sort of critique on League, I personally don’t see it that way. While we can only speculate, n0tail probably wanted to start a discussion about the actual topic and wanted further answers to better understand the topic. It will be interesting to see if Doublelift responds, as it could lead to an intriguing debate.
Do you think Doublelift’s claims of League of Legends having a higher mechanical ceiling are correct? Let us know in the comments!
